If you haven't seen it with other email clients (iOS?) then it's likely 
to be somewhat related to MailMate.

It could be a problem with respect to how MailMate fetches the password 
from the keychain. You could try clear all passwords saved for imap/smtp 
in “Keychain Access” to give it a clean start.

I've made some changes though and I would recommend trying the 64 bit 
beta of MailMate:
