I'd like to see a keyboard shortcut and a toolbar icon to toggle the
online/offline state.

Why both? I do like driving everything from the keyboard, but I often
enough read email with a cup of coffee or
sandwich in one hand, and a mouse can be used with the other hand.

Offline capability was one of the main reasons I chose MailMate in the
first place. I live out in the sticks and my broadband will frequently
go AWOL for a while (a few seconds up to half an hour). It's a lot
better than it used to be, but when it's half way between 'working' and
'not working', a forced disconnect is the best way forward.

The most irritating situation is with any program which finds a
connection and expects it to be there forever. Some developers have
quite obviously never worked with modems, or even had the "pleasure" of
building work or storms taking the lot out.
