[MlMt] Occasional failure of the new search input area

Sometimes I'll go to the search input area and type something (e.g. "f 
rik") and nothing will happen. Typically it's when I've been using it 
recently. The old Search button works just fine. The only way I've been 
able to get it to start working again is to open a new viewer window.
