If “black box” refers to something you blacked out then try out 
“View ▸ Distortion Mode”.

All I can say is that I'm very aware of the issues with the strict 
threading behavior. It's not an easy feature to add (at least not like 
how I would like to add it), but it's on my todo.

If you have any parent-child messages with matching `Message-ID` and 
`In-Reply-To` headers not threaded correctly then you can send examples 
to me off list.
