The app password.

The point of "app passwords" is to isolate the authentication of exactly
one client application with its own unique password that nothing else
can use. Depending on the service provider, you may even be unable to
use the same app password on 2 different achines with the same client
software or in 2 different clients on the same machine.

If I am interpreting the cruft in my own ~/Library/Application
Support/MailMate/Mailboxes.plist correctly, the Smart mailboxes which
are children of "Mailboxes" retain references to deleted accounts as
sources and in rules un til the Smart mailbox is re-edited, so if you
recreate the account with identical user & server names, those should
survive. Smart mailboxes which are children of the account being deleted
DO get deleted with the account.

I hope you have not yet deleted the account, as it is almost certainly
possible to fix the login configuration with the right details. Things
that can matter include how you've configured encryption (mislabeled in
MM as SSL) and whether you've included your domain name in the username
for authentication or not. I can't tell you what the correct settings
are, but your working Postbox settings should provide strong clues.
