It never gets triggered then.

My suspicion is that this is an off-by-one error in either the 
definition of the mailbox or the rule such that messages are being added 
to the mailbox before they are old enough for the rule. The method 
relies on messages already being too old at the moment that they reach 
the age which puts them in the deleting mailbox.
