The problem is not mixing various types of drafts. The problem is to upload them to the server at all. I do not consider the server to be a “safe” location. Intermediate signed emails would put incomplete/unintentional signed content into the cloud which you might not want to put your name on. The same for encrypted emails, but in this case it is particularly bad if MailMate fails to encrypt an intermediate email since then you would suddenly have unencrypted content in the cloud -- breaking the intention of having end-to-end encryption.

In other words, I'm assuming an “attacker” has access to your IMAP server.
