Mac Eudora had an "advanced" feature that allowed editing of received
messages. When enabled, there was an "Edit" icon on the toolbar.
Clicking it allowed editing of any part of the message. I used it to add
notes in the body of messages, or to modify or add header fields. When
done, clicking the "Edit" icon again saved the changes. Behind the
scenes, Eudora used IMAP APPEND to upload the edited message and IMAP
DELETE/EXPUNGE to delete the original message. Interoperable and very
handy. I wish MailMate supported this!
