[MlMt] using Apple Contacts.app address book in MM message compose mode

Randy,

FWIW. There do seem to be some bugs about the use of Mac Contacts data
in addressing a new message. Here are my findings and experience (in the
same version, latest MM v1.14 Test Build 5964 (running on a MBP2021 P1
Pro in MacOS 13.3.1 version):
1. The LAST NAME of the contact where the primary contact is a name not
a company. Last name must be used first so it depends on the name
sorting in use with Contacts, I suppose. The sorting selection in my
Contacts app is not coincidentally, by Last Name and always has been. 2.
In cases where the name entry of the Company is primary (or no name
exists, E.G., the name defaults to Company name), first part of the name
(even a few letters) is sufficient to pull it up.
3. There is a choice of email addresses (scrollable listing) to select
in a dropdown, available in the case of multiple email addresses within
a found contact.
4. Not finding details on how this auto-selection of new email addresses
is supposed to work in MM’s Help>Compose or Help>Preferences areas of
the Help menu. Don’t know the intent of MM as to whether this is a bug
or not, whether it depends on Sorting preferences in the Contact Menu
settings or not. Feel free to experiment and let us know. Contacts
itself doesn’t work the same way to search for a name. I typically use
the last name or reply to an existing message, which copied the sender
into the To: fields or all addressees in case of a reply all selection.
My choices may work around what you experience.

Respectfully,

Henry Seiden
