Hello All,

I’ve seen some complaints about searches and locating the items. Also
have seen Benny make some strides in updates to the search process.

So for a test, tried to find a specific group of email I get regularly
to deal with using a saved search. Wanted to search for and deal with
certain email, by subject line or generally, that meet the criteria,
located in my Archived mail, select them and trash ‘em. The trashing
part is unscripted (E.G., a manual operation), although I suppose that
could be automated as well.

So I made and saved a search by simply typing in the criteria. The basic
search criteria was entered in the search selection box on the main
page. Then the save menu appears with the search results. When saved, it
auto-creates a smart mailbox (located in “All Message Subparts”
folder) as a smart mailbox, with the filled in search definitions -
Mailboxes, Conditions,Rules. It can be further edited, retitled, etc. I
retitled and narrowed the search criteria to the mailbox location I knew
about just to narrow the criteria. Since the subject was exact and
unique it wasn’t necessary… Just playing. Now it a smart mailbox I
can use by a click instead of retyping.

For me, using Search from the Mailmate window to the smart mailbox
creation process works great. In the future to trim these regular
emails, I can go to the smart Mailbox to see the activity regularly and
decide when or if to delete the resulting search!

Kudos for a smooth, simple process. There is a lot more detail and
suggestions on searching in the Help menu: View>Toolbar Search. The
above is the way I was comfortable with. YMMV.

Respectfully,

Henry Seiden
