[MlMt] slow/laggy UI behavior after updating from 10.13.6 -> 10.14.2

Open a Terminal window to run this command:

	sample 20 MailMate > ~/Desktop/mailmate_sample.txt

While it's running then trigger some of the delays. Send me the 
resulting file using “Help ▸ Send Feedback” and I'll see if there 
are any hints.
