I use Alfred for text expansion alongside 1Password for secrets. Every 
now and then, I noticed my snippets wouldn't work and chalked it up to 
some weird bug. However, one day I found a message stating the 
text-expansion was "locked by secure entry"[1].

It _might_ be related to your problem. Note that I wasn't using a 
hot-key but rather was simply allowing it to detect a phrase like 
`p-sig` or `v-sig` and then just expand automatically.
