[MlMt] MailMate, Dovecot & Shared Folders

I’m seriously considering switching to MailMate, but I’m having 
trouble getting shared folders to work.

I have a public namespace configured on a Dovecot server. The shared 
folder has always worked in Apple’s Mail.app, but I can’t see the 
folder in MailMate. The configuration is as follows:

namespace public {
separator = .
prefix = INBOX.shared.
location = maildir:/home/public/shared/Maildir
inbox = no
subscriptions = yes
}

My server is quite out of date (ubuntu 9.04 with dovecot 1.1.1). Is 
there some knob I can turn to get MailMate to work with this 
configuration? Will it not work with the old OS/package versions? Or 
will it not work at all? Or is there a good alternative for shared 
folders with MailMate?
