Thanks. This is also the main reason I'm working on this. In a perfect 
world, each email client would apply their own default styling to 
unstyled HTML emails, but it seems MailMate is more or less alone with 
regard to doing this. The worst is Outlook (webmail?) for which I have 
reports that an “ugly” default font is used when an explicit font is 
not specified in an HTML email. This makes MailMate emails look 
“unprofessional”. Plain text emails do not have the same problem.

It is literally depressing how broken HTML is for email and I'm now 
slowly turning MailMate into being a hyper-flexible HTML email client 
just to work around this problem. My current design allows a “theme” 
to be assigned to each signature (which is more like a profile now). 
This allows only styling outgoing emails to specific recipients, but 
it's actually also going to allow having special themes for special 
purposes like marketing email mailing lists...

This is all very ambivalent for me. I like the flexibility and the 
search for the best possible workarounds, but I also hate implicitly 
letting MailMate become part of the problem (although that already 
happened the day I allowed HTML generation for Markdown).
