Thanks for sharing. I'm sure Aquamacs users are going to find it very 
useful. Can I include it with MailMate if I decide to do so at some 
point?

The most recent test version of MailMate includes a change which makes 
`MM_LINE_NUMBER` available as an environment variable. For now it's only 
used by the TextMate bundle to place the caret in its default location. 
You might find that useful as well.

I noted, by the way, that Aquamacs has a [command line 
tool](http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/AquamacsFAQ#toc24) as well. Maybe 
it's more useful than your current approach to opening Aquamacs (maybe 
it supports something like `--wait` and `--line` as currently used in 
the TextMate bundle).
