<p dir="auto">The most recent test version of MailMate includes a change which makes <code>MM_LINE_NUMBER</code> available as an environment variable. For now it's only used by the TextMate bundle to place the caret in its default location. You might find that useful as well.</p>
<p dir="auto">I noted, by the way, that Aquamacs has a <a href="http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/AquamacsFAQ#toc24">command line tool</a> as well. Maybe it's more useful than your current approach to opening Aquamacs (maybe it supports something like <code>--wait</code> and <code>--line</code> as currently used in the TextMate bundle).</p>
