[MlMt] Want a simple IMAP server to run locally... every proposed method is too complicated for my little brain... any help out there?

I'm using offlineimap for that. It's not really a canned approach, how
you call it, but Steve Losh wrote about it here

and it's quite easy to install, in my opinion.

But since you've already solved your problem this is just for others who
might want to try something different.
