[MlMt] Messages disappear in MailMate but are still on server

My wife is trying MailMate using her gmail account. After downloading 
messages in MM, she started Apple Mail to check something and that 
application automatically downloaded the same messages that MailMate 
did. Her Apple Mail account uses POP, and is set to delete messages 
after one week.

Once the Apple Mail download occurred, the newly downloaded messages 
(still unread) disappeared from MailMate! They remain on the gmail 
server, but will not re-download into MailMate. Why did this happen, and 
how can I get those messages back into MailMate? Thanks.
