It has been over a decade since I used the Outlook+Exchange abomination 
but I can still envision the little brag/warn at the top of a 
well-spaced text email asserting that "extra" whitespace had been 
removed.

Lines with a space or tab on them? Maybe multiple spaces and tabs?
