Earlier this year there was definitely releases with a memory leak issue, but I did at least fix the issue I could reproduce.

After restart, this dropped to just above 2 GB. After some time, it went up to almost 5 GB. Now is at above 8 GB. I restart very seldom but I have never seen this before, so it might be a new “feature” of a recent version. All Messages count is below 65k message (I used to have over 100k). I noticed also that after a while Mailmate pauses, like in spinning the pizza for some time, before its interface its active again. I wonder if there is a relation between the two.

Yes, the latter would be expected with this kind of behavior.

The issue might be related to you using specific features or maybe viewing specific messages in MailMate, but it's hard to say. When you observe this behavior then maybe try making a sample of the process in Activity Monitor and send it to me using “Help > Send Feedback”. Maybe I can spot something suspicious.

Note that immediately after launch and while receiving/sending a few messages then it's expected that memory usage increases, but after this it should not increase considerably.

You can also try taking account(s) offline for a while to see if that stops the increasing memory usage. This would be a sign that it's somehow related to server synchronization (maybe some kind of busy-looping issue).
