I'm not sure it's exactly your issue, but I've fixed some likely related: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update settings pane to get the latest test release.

If it's not fixed then write me off list, preferably with a screenshot (use View > Distortion Mode) and a description of the action triggering the issue.
