[MlMt] New Feature "Standard Single Column (Experimental" in 2.0(r6246)

Can this new display feature when used in the message list perform summarization of message contents as well as affect the layout of the window? I can’t seem to get any further action other than the window display of the new column. Is there some further intent?

For example, how is the bottom selection choice involved or is it meant to go there in future development (a la Mail)? Perhaps some forward-looking details of the expected settings and menu conditions might be helpful? In the View description in Help Menu? Maybe I’m missing something. Also tried this feature applied to the Drafts folder where it’s similar
