I'm not sure if anyone who really uses e-mails is. They're certainly against the spirit of the RFC and I always wondered about them.

You mean a block of text masquerading as markup isn't acceptable.
Much as I prefer text/plain for e-mails, I'm a great fan of how MailMate lets me write plaintext but sends an HTML part for the Outlook victims who don't understand that the power of e-mail lies in expressing ourselves in words and not in markup. But would it be possible to add an indicator of the parts being sent.
