Hello all,
**Problem**:
* Just today, for no apparent reason MailMate’s memory use on my Server computer (MacMini M2, 2023) went through the rook skyrocketing to over 10GB of RAM then crashing due to an out of Memory warning. Version 6059 in use.
Pinned this to one Gmail account in particular, It was a Gmail account, one seldom used that caused RAM to skyrocket from 100-150MB to 10.6GB where RAM available was gone and the system crashed, “Out of Memory”. It remains very repeatable. No other accounts were the cause, because I checked them one by one (below, what didn’t work) . Several other troubleshooting was attempted. The Mail app had no trouble or memory issues when MailMate was turned off, with Mail accessing the same accounts launched for a monitoring period. Waiting hours for a sign of error still produced no issue in Mail.
**What didn’t work**:
1. Opening the same accounts in Mail yielded no errors.
2. Tried deleting all trash and junk from the relevant folders’ account. Good news is that this account is an old one that is seldom used. One that I can easily be rid of.
3. Testing for memory consumption by disabling one Source account at a time, quitting and restarting the app at each step.
4. Completely removed and reinstall the offending gmail account again, with resimilar results.
**Fix**:
* Only workaround discovered after testing - removing the offending Source Account. Back to 150MB of RAM in Activity Monitor.
**Conclusion**:
* Mail still can deal with it even though MM cannot. Seriously considering ditching the old account in Google, but the downside is that someone else may try to use it for spam purposes. Gmail doesn’t have a way to protect accounts that I know of that have been closed.
* Some unopened recently received spam may have triggered the anomaly in MM but not elsewhere.
Respectfully,
Henry Seiden
