It's not a MailMate solution, but this sounds like something that 
imapsync [1] might be able to do easily.  I've used it a number of times 
to move mail around from one server to another.  I used it a few weeks 
ago to rescue several gigabytes of EMail from a Gmail account that was 
about to go poof.
