First, I'm glad to see that the problem of duplicate sent mails with 
Office365 is something that others experience.  When I raised it with 
Benny, I believe he was unsure whether many did.

Second, I have dealt with the problem in a relatively simple way using a 
rule on the sent messages folder:

(All) of the following are true
        (X-Ms-Exchange-Organization-Expirationstarttime) (exists)
(Move to Mailbox) (Sent Dupes)

This files the duplicates in a folder that I periodically have to 
expunge.  The choice of header was arbitrary among those peculiar to the 
duplicates.
