I wasn’t clear. I did succeed in getting this to work to color all messages in a particular mailbox. What I didn’t succeed at was coloring only messages from a particular sender. Should the type be “mailbox” for this?

I would like to clarify that this is for coloring emails belonging to any kind of mailbox. The above is an example of using it to color the emails which are located in a top-level mailbox under “Sources”, that is, anything belonging to the given account.

You can create a smart mailbox defined in any way you want and then select it in the mailbox list and hit ⌘C to get the value needed for the uuid key above.

In this case documentation does exist<https://manual.mailmate-app.com/hidden_preferences#colored-messages>. (I did do some work on a user interface for this feature, but it has been in a non-functional limbo in the 2.0BETA branch for quite long.)
