Did you try the command I describe 
[here](https://www.mail-archive.com/mailmate%40lists.freron.com/msg05044.html). 
In my experience if you try a number of times then it eventually sticks.

(I also suspect that resetting launch services works, but I cannot 
recall if I ever verified that.)
