I've also noticed this, but I never linked it to the 'a' letter; now that
I've been told, I'm quite sure that it happens (not always, I would say,
but rather often) only with address starting with it.

I'm also reasonably sure that it hasn't always been like this; at some
point in time it just started to happen.
