[MlMt] 'simple' universal search (à la Mail)?

Hi folks

New here, and I have looked at the archives but it's hard to search for 
'search'.

Is it possible to search for a term in the search box in the way Mail 
does (or Mailsmith also allowed, with 'Simple Query')? Often the search 
is too powerful for me as the item might be in the subject or body, or 
quoted. I can only see those specific items in the options.
