In the background of the .icn file, seems it squishes the black BG to 0 luminance value. Seems a more useful for these icons would be to show a growing when the app is running and will make a suggestion to Apple that that might be useful instead of the silly dot. I got the idea from an implementation in SpamSieve that does just that. So it is possible!</p>
