Well it's actually moving new messages successfully when they arrive, so I think the rules are properly formulated. But I am unable to get it to move old messages using the menu items that are supposed to do that.

MailMate using Exchange's IMAP server seems to have no problem moving messages manually, but when I try to use newly created rules to move old messages, nothing happens. I have tried both of the options under "Apply rules" ("selected messages" and "all messages"), and they seem to do nothing at all. No messages get moved.

The first step is to verify that your rule conditions match the messages. I'd suggest removing the "Move" action and replacing it with "Set Tag/Keyword" to set "Flagged", which makes the message have a noticeable color.

If you apply rules to selected messages and the messages do not get flagged, then something in your conditions isn't right.
