Hi All,

I have a very random question. I recently noticed that some emails were being deleted without me intending to do so. I finally traced it to a conflict between a Typinator expansion and a custom key binding in MM. I have confirmed the behavior but remain confused on what is actually being triggered in MM. I’d like to know so I can 100% avoid it in the future.

Here’s the original conflict:

“z” — this is (or was) my custom key binding to toggle viewing unread emails on and off

“ZZ” — this is my Typinator shortcut that expands to type the key sequence “-{tab}-{tab}-{return}”. To be clear, it types dashes and hits the tab and return keys. (This is a very specific set of keys for processing data in an Excel spreadsheet.)

When I type “z” intending to show unread, I believe I sometimes double-tapped it, triggering “-{tab}-{tab}-{return}”.

To avoid this, I’ve changed the unread key binding to a key combo far less likely to be unintentionally triggered. I’ve also set the Typinator shortcut to case match. Last, I should probably also adjust my keystroke timing on my new keyboard, which may be more sensitive than my last one.

To confirm, I’m still able to recreate the issue by hitting “ZZ” which deletes two emails and opens one. This suggests that some combination of “-“ and “{tab}” deletes an email. But for life of me do not see these as keyboard shortcuts anywhere.

Is this something hidden in MM? Maybe I have yet another keyboard conflict? I do set a lot of keyboard shortcuts!

Any help for this very specific problem is appreciated!
