I went back to release 6048 and found NO DIFFERENCE. Icons were displayed there.

Then I went back further still, to version 5673 (2020 vintage). That version uses a row of sub-menus to edit rules. None of these changes seem to be specifically documented in Release notes I could find.

All said, I’m happy with my icon layout and have no knowledge of ways to change the settings further in the current release. Based on my findings, I suspect the layout settings of Rules Window may be some combo of settings preferences from Shoshana’s settings that were improperly migrated over time.

Example
I used my current settings to check in the two above versions and they hold when going back and forth.

Why do I say this? So far, two people at least have the icons by default as the window display of that menu and old versions used a different type of Rules window altogether. So if if you jumped the shark for example, going from a very old version to a very new one without stepping through the iterations as many of us did, your settings did not correctly migrate.

Sorry, but the only alternative I can think of is a clean install of MailMate app instead of migrating by simply reinstalling. Benny may have other ideas of getting from text > icons in the Edit Rules window.

I see your complaint, now, Shoshana.

What I do here is set the screen (possibly it’s the default) for icon display instead of text display, Hence I never saw this problem before. The icons are not “cramped” in the Edit Rules window.

I do not know where the settings for the Edit Rules window might be, but clearly there is a mode for display of icons or text and there may be a further adjustment for adjusting the sizing. That might be a dev question on that window. So I copied Benny with your query in case hew has not seen. You comment to him directly at the feedback address.

Since it appears to be a long standing issue that might be an appropriate direction to raise it. Not to mention the documentation issue for user settings if available, as well. Attaching a small pic.

NB, hovering over the icon reveals the text! What I don’t know is how to access or return from the setting you show, to the setting I show. Probably a CLI setting suspected.

Respectfully,

I'm running MailMate 6059 under Ventura. For the last couple of versions, the Mailboxes, Conditions, Submailboxes, and Rules buttons in the "edit mailbox" window have been terribly cramped together on the right side of the window; image here

https://imgur.com/a/CzUEUcK

They used to be a reasonable size (so you could read their names!). There's plenty of horizontal space available; why jam them up like that? I figured this was a glitch that might get corrected, so I waited for a couple of updates; but I just installed 6059 and it's still happening, so I thought I'd inquire. Do other people see this, or is it somehow just me?
