<p dir="auto">A-ha! Thanks. The key is to use the “Copy link” right-click option on any link. That does it, but ‘regular’ cut and paste does not.</p>

(I have an Alfred workflow that makes it very easy, I just wondered if there are other ideas out there. Happy to share the workflow w/ anyone interested).</p>
