<p dir="auto">I haven't read the all of this thread, but MailMate does have support for Busy Contacts using bundles (see the Bundles preferences pane).</p>
<p dir="auto">There's also some support (which I think still works) to make View/Add work directly with Busy Contacts:</p>

<p dir="auto">With respect to recent issues with groups in Contacts, I'd appreciate feedback if there are any issues with the latest test release (just write me directly off list). The previous issues were about missing/duplicate contacts when expanding groups.</p>
<p dir="auto">The latest test release adds support for changing the email address of a recipient found in Contacts if it has multiple email addresses. This is in the context sensitive menu of each recipient. This new feature might also mean new bugs ;-)</p>
<p dir="auto">The latest test release should be able to handle duplicate group names (in different accounts).</p>
