</blockquote><p dir="auto">If we're talking about the From/To/Subject scrolling off the top of the screen when a message is long, that's how my MailMate behaves too - and I don't think I've ever done a custom layout for messages. This is a pretty recent reinstall, and I haven't tweaked much. :)

<p dir="auto">I think this is a difference between the normal/beta releases (fixed header panel) and the latest test release (scrolling header panel).</p>
<p dir="auto">Benny suggested that folks running Big Sur use the latest test release because it fixed some issues, but it also has the shiny new message view that’s purportedly not quite ready for prime time. (It seems strictly superior to me, and fixes the longstanding main thread hang when switching from plain text to markdown, whoopee!)</p>
<p dir="auto">As of right now, the available releases are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Normal release: 5673</li>
<li>Beta release: 5673</li>
<li>Test release: 5757</li>
</ul>
<p dir="auto">Test releases can be had by option-clicking the “Check Now” button in the software update tab of the prefs.</p>
