<p dir="auto">It's a MacOS Sierra thing. Open <code style="background-color:#F7F7F7; border-radius:3px; margin:0; padding:0 0.4em" bgcolor="#F7F7F7">preferences > Dock > Prefer tabs when opening documents:</code> and choose what you want. In my case, I have it set to always and that way, MM will open a message in a tab, same goes for compose window etc.</p>
