<p dir="auto">No, the only alternative sorting is a (probably not working very well) hidden preference. From some old release notes:</p>

<li>New: Hidden boolean setting for (crudely) sorting submailboxes on count (instead of alphabetically): <code style="background-color:#F7F7F7; border-radius:3px; margin:0; padding:0 0.4em" bgcolor="#F7F7F7">MmSortSubmailboxesByCount</code>.</li>
