Its been that way for a while, every time MM gets restarted, including this morning when I updated again.. 10 minutes before I could do much of anything with my system.

Absolutely sure. I tried again this morning too, before and after updating to 6024. I can share screenshots if you like, but holding down the Opt key and ‘Check for Test Build’ leads to the message offering me to downgrade to 5673. It’s odd.
